As mentioned a few days ago, if you have not retuned your set-top-box yet, you are recommended to do so as soon as possible. Whilst your Freeview box will still receive digital terrestrial broadcasting using it’s current configuration, for it to perform at optimum viewing quality rescanning will refresh the channels your television benefits from. Good advice is to do this every month or so anyway but on this occasion the advantages certainly outweigh the couple of minutes this will take.

Digital broadcasts offer an insight in the future developments of television viewing. Digital terrestrial, also known as Freeview television, offers more channel choice, including radio, films, childrens TV and sport and also allows interactive content to be transmitted into your living room. By purchasing a set-top-box you have available a plethora of new television viewing choice at your fingertips. Which channels you can receive is dependant on your viewing area and local transmitter but this is also to your benefit as you do have regional broadcasting options too. The strength of the digital signal will greatly depend on whereabouts you live in the UK. The first way to find out would be to ask a freind or neighbour about what aerial and set-top-box combination they use and how good their television signal is from their address. If they can even recommend a product or local aerial installer that is a fantastic way to help.
During the digital switchover there is a lot of confusion about what the future holds for the current technology that we have at home. Please keep returning to Freeview advice to find out more help and reviews.
The future of Freeview

What is going to happen to Freeview is of the most interesting questions that affects the digital switchover in the UK. Freeview is the free-to-air digital terrestrial television platform that most of us associate with digital TV. There are other digital options such as Freesat or Sky, but Freeview is by far the most popular. You can easily purchase a digital Freeview set-top-box for as little as £20 on the high street.
One that would expect that as the most popular digital television viewing choice, the number of available channels would increase thus increasing your viewing options. Also new technology could develop Freeview to new levels.

When choosing a set-top-box for your Freeview setup remember price isn’t everything! Some good deals, particularly on the internet, can be found accross the internet from high street technology names to specialised web based general retailers. Even if you decide that maybe buying a Freeview box from cyberspace isn’t a good idea, some shops even offer a technology price match service which means that if you can quote the internet price (maybe with a print-out) they’ll match the online deals.
